Impressions: Hoosiers

- Full disclosure, only re-watched 1/2 the game. Could not stomach the rest.
- No sugarcoating. This is a bad football team.
- One of the biggest issues is no leadership.
- And No player with that “IT” factor. No difference maker type players.
- Team is playing scared and tight (IMO), scared of making mistakes and that cause them to play tight.
- Two examples, defensive backs were actually positioned better in second half. They just did not have the confidence to make a play. They were playing scared.
- Second is defensive line jumping off side. It is the most timid jumping i have seen. Actually threw my remote and screamed hit something.
- I found something we do worse than play Man, 0 coverage. Our zone technique.
- One of my pet peeves is defenders standing around guarding grass. Michigan has some of the better grass defenders I have seen in some time.
- Five times defenders were standing closely to pass catchers and never moved to the receiver until after they caught the ball.
- Put your head on a D@MN swivel and make a play.
- Not sure what has happened, but our linebackers are embarrassing.
- Almost like they are scared of getting beat in coverage that makes them worthless against run.
- Why is Coach Brown blitzing so little?
- I get that Michigan secondary needs help, but would rather see them put in tough situations then die the death of 1000 cuts being passive.
- This is the softest, least physical Michigan team I have ever seen.
- Brown and defensive staff need to step up and recruit better. Talent level is unacceptable. Only three or four could even makes top two depth chart on better teams.
- Will cut the offense a bit of slack.
- Playing without your top two tackles is tough.
- Still no excuse for some of the things we saw.
- One positive, if entire team played with same passion and fire of Ronnie Bell we would not be 1-2.
- I really dislike using 4 running backs. Nobody gets into a rhythm or a hot hand.
- Two dropped passes by tight ends were killers. Michigan was still in the game and both led to Indiana scores.
- Why don’t they get Milton out of the pocket more? It is obvious he is struggling in the pocket.
- Might a well run Milton more. What are we saving him for?
- Milton missing that sure touchdown and interception on consecutive series killed any chance.
- One more thing on defense, I don’t get our alignment to trips. We are out numbers by alignment and give up easy yards strictly on numbers. NUTS!
- Offense is just as timid and scared as the defense.
- Not sure how they turn this around, but if we are going to get our @SS kicked might as well do it with young, hungry players who can improve for next season.
- Gut check time for Coach Harbaugh and staff. 90% of this mess falls on you. Time to look in the mirror and really assess yourselves and where this team and program is.
- Still put 10% on the players. No excuse for the effort we are seeing from many of them.
Until next week. Go Blue.
