Impressions: BGSU

- A win is a win, they all count one at the season’s end.
- Remember, never got too excited about early season blow out, or too down about early season struggle.
- There were plenty of positives.
- Despite losing a NFL level punter UMs punt game is just as good, if not better, than last season.
- UM also escaped without anything major in the injury department.
- Corum is also starting to show his hold form.
- Not up to 22 level performance. Definitely getting better.
- We have talked about how one play can change an entire game in the past..
- JJs 1st interception was one of those.
- UM was clicking and getting ready to take control of the game.
- They were not the same after that play.
- My biggest concern, is how it affected JJ.
- He needs to develop a delete button and not have 1 error, despite how huge, effect his play.
13a. I believe without the int he hits Morris on the long TD.
13b. He was trying to be too perfect instead of putting air under it and letting the WR adjust.
- 1 thing that needs fixed is the turnover issue.
- If UM is going to compete with the elite they cannot lose the turnover battle.
- O Line play is getting better. Pass pro is very good and LOS was moving.
- Once JJ started to struggle BGSU had their safeties at 6 yards.
- The good news, with offense struggling, UM defense was very good.
- I counted only 3 missed tackles.
- Despite being good there were 2 things that need addressed.
- 4 times BGSU WRs were behind UM secondary.
- If that happens against say OSU, it more than likely at least 2 TDs or even more.
- Another thing is D Line needs to stay in their lanes during pass rush.
- BG QBs scrambled for yards and moved the chains a few times.
- I know, I am being a bit tough on the D Line.
- Except for the pass lanes, they were dominant. Coach Elston needs a raise.
- They even showed the discipline and stayed home on screens.
- One of the signs of good defense is offense going to the check down.
- BG went to the check down right round 20 times.
- When you are dictating what the offense does that is playing great defense.
- That’s all for this week.
- Time to get ready for Big Ten Opener, until then, GO BLUE!
