Impressions: Maryland
1. 11-0 vs 11-0, exactly how I want it.
2. After watching game 2nd and 3rd time I feel a bit better.
3. It was definitely UMs worse 2nd half, but not quite as bad as I originally thought.
4. We talked quite a bit about all the off the field crap messing with players head.
5. Thing to remember, it has a huge effect on coaching staff also.
6. Staffs have assigned game day duties and when you mess with them it can make things interesting.
7. For example, with Coach Moore being HC it gives him less time to adjust offense and coach up the O Line.
8. JJ definitely misses Harbaugh, but IMO O Linemen miss Moore just as much.
9. Now throw in the loss of Partridge and you have a bigger mess.
10. JJs INT at the end of 1st half was a game changer.
11. It changed how Maryland could play the 2nd half.
12. I am not giving JJ a pass on the missed TD pass to C Johnson.
13. I still believe Johnson needs to do better job of tracking the ball and adjusting his route.
14. For 3 quarters UMs O Line was very good.
15. UM ran the ball well and JJ had plenty of time.
16. Hinton’s injury changed everything.
17. I doubt Trente gets many tackle reps in practice these days.
18. Did anyone else wonder why Corum had footing issues?
19. 3 times I thought he was going to break one only to slip.
20. Unsung hero, punter Dorman, pinned Maryland deep twice.
21. I wonder if loss of Partridge caused UM to play so much base.
22. Maryland never figured out UMs inside twist.
23. UM blitzed very little in 2nd half.
24. Grant is an absolute force on the inside.
25. Good news, UM was better against the run this week.
26. Biggest issue was underneath coverage.
27. Again, I wonder how much the loss of Partridge hurt.
28. No disrespect to Rick Minter. He is an excellent position coach.
29. Our corners will need to step it up this week.
30. Going as much with base and not blitzing hurt the secondary.
31. Last thing, I hate the defenseless player penalty.
32. That is football, and officiating is very inconsistent with how it is called.
33. For example, they called it against Mason Grahmn, but not against Maryland safety. And how many hits did JJ take that could of been called the same.
34. That’s all, No Need to hype what’s next. GO BLUE!
