Christian Turner 2018 Signed Profile
GBMW Readers: Here is a overview of University of Michigan recently signed commitment Christian Turner.
Christian Turner plays for Buford Georgia, a program that has won 10 state championships. He recently made a whirlwind tour of several universities and when the dust settled, young Mr. Turner felt that Michigan, like so many recruits the last few years, was the best total package of football, relationships, academics, and campus atmosphere. He stated his choice was really between Notre Dame and Michigan.
Christian was hurt a good part of last season, hence one variable in the dreaded 3-star rating. He has skills and he had plenty of good offers including Miami, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Nebraska, Louisville, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin. On the academic scene, besides Michigan and Notre Dame, Christina had offers from Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.
So, what is appealing enough about Christian Turner to garner a decent list of offers from better than average power five teams? Christian appears made for running motion spread and inside zone. He is somewhere around 5’ 10 and 185 pounds, but may get bigger by entrance time. He is pretty thick and looks like a weight room disciple. Nothing in his film gives a viewer the holy cow effect, but he may best be described as efficient. He looks like a guy comfortable in the spread/zone scheme.
Now having thrown up the small caution flag above, Christian’s stats, even with injury, are pretty wow for a guy rated around the top thirty backs, or lower, in the country. Over a two year period Christian has averaged around ten yards a carry and scored 27 touchdowns. His team has two premiere running backs.

Rankings:
Note: Stars do matter, but are not absolute in predicting success within a football program. So, with that in mind the GBMW Staff has cleverly come up with a new system of ranking. We are using footballs instead of stars, how can one argue against a system that clever? Below are the interpretations of football power predicted way too boldly long before it matters. In other words, we will give informed opinion with the crystal ball and let the players determine what will happen through years of hard work.
Criteria: Raw talent, athleticism, position of need, intangibles.
GBMW Staff Rankings:
10 footballs: Instant impact player.
9 footballs: Three or four-year starter at a high level.
8 footballs: A starter with all league potential.
7 footballs: A meaningful starter at some time during a career.
6 footballs: A spot starter or special teams player.
5 footballs: Not in the two deep after a two years.
4 footballs: Never made it.
1-3 footballs: See the above.
We have him at 7 1/2 footballs, but he is up against pretty equal talent.

Side Note: Remember just as we did during the season with grading positions or groups we are very tough graders and expect a lot out of those positions or players so this is no different here.
Overview:
This kid is CoachBT’s personal favorite running back recruit during the Harbaugh era. He plays for one of the top programs in Georgia. Christian is a good combination of acceleration, shiftiness, and toughness. He rushed for 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns, despite missing multiple games his junior year with injury. He also rushed for 800 yards as a sophomore. Christian plays point guard in basketball and is rated a mid-major prospect in that sport. No GPA is listed, but his offers from high academic schools shows academic success.
Strengths:
Christian runs the outside zone/stretch play as well as any high schooler Coach has seen on video this year. He has excellent, quick feet. Also, Christian shows good burst and acceleration. He plays with very good bend and shows good hips and is not afraid to lower his shoulder and attack bigger tacklers. Like a lot of shifty, tough guys, Christian runs with a low center of gravity and good balance.
Concerns/Needs Work:
He will need to get bigger and stronger, as usual and will also need to learn to play without the ball. This transformation includes blocking and becoming a viable pass receiver. Christian will also need to run better between the tackles, but his inside moves are not bad at all.
Red-shirt or play his Freshman Year?
GBMW Staff believes he will likely play his first year. There is a good chance he plays early with the history of how Coach Harbaugh likes to see immediately who can tote the mail and also be used on special teams.
Christian Turner reminds the GBMW Staff of — Michigan Football Player — Fitzgerald Toussaint — who played the Running Back position.
