Impressions: Army

1. Talk about an ugly win. Or as announcer stated, Michigan survives.

2. With 3 turnovers, 4 sacks, and 8 penalties in regulation it’s amazing Michigan made it to overtime.

3. Add in losing special teams in regulation and you have a recipe for a huge upset.

4. This will not be popular, but I am convinced this is Josh Gattis offense.

5. Too many pass schemes Coach Harbaugh would never use.

6. What I believe is happening is that Gattis is attempting to make lemonade out of rotten lemons.

7a. Adapting Michigan’s slow and cumbersome roster into a college spread offense.

7b. Just guessing, but think Coach Gattis regrets his speed in space comment now that he has seen the skill level he is working with.

7c. Not saying Michigan has no talent, just that they don’t have the people to play his vaulted speed in space offense.

8. I will agree, it has not been pretty.

9. I don’t get why Michigan goes in shell in second half and in both games.

10. In first half Michigan was 40% run to 60 % pass.

11. It was turnovers and penalties that stopped Michigan.

12. In second half Michigan 66% run vs 33% pass.

13. Further proof. Michigan was 50/50 on first down in first half.

14. In second half Michigan 70% run and 30% pass on first down.

15. Still think Shea Patterson holds onto ball too long.

16. Still don’t get Michigan clock management at end of half.

17. If they were playing for field goal why run play that caused huge loss.

18. And why play field goal in first place.

19. Ronnie Bell was better, still making mistakes do (IMO) to inexperience. Him and Giles Jackson need to learn to get north and south and not run 15 yards vertically.

20. Interesting that in overtime Michigan got aggressive and was 75% pass and 25% run. Led to scoring 10 points.

21. Thought line took step backwards.

22. Give Army credit for executing their game plan and giving themselves a shot at the Win.

23. Overall Michigan defense was solid.

24. Would of liked them to be a bit more aggressive. Letting Army have 31+ minutes of time of possession is not good.

25. Did not agree with a couple of defensive alignments.

26a. Did not like how Michigan lined up to unbalanced.

26b. Even did this in red zone and gave Army an easy first down.

27. Also did like covering tight end with corner in red zone. Lavert Hill to driven back on Army TD.

28. Give Aidan Hutchinson a game ball for play in overtime.

29. Wow, was Patterson off in overtime.

30. If every Michigan defender played with Jordan Glasgow hustle and heart that would be awesome to watch.

31. Defense stepping up and getting two key turnovers was difference in game.

32. Did think Michigan secondary could of been better at getting off blocks at times.

33. Bottom line, will take the W, regardless how ugly.
