Michigan Football: Week 13 Thoughts

- Now be 100% honest. At beginning season who really believed I would be writing about week 13?
- Did all the commercials and breaks drive any one else crazy.
- I get it’s a multi-billion dollar business, but come on, had to make it tough on players to stay loose and get into a rhythm.
- Almost did not do this one.
- Just seemed like a bit of a after-thought.
- On other hand, don’t want to jinx us by breaking the precedent.
- Not to P*SS in any ones cornflakes, but let’s talk about what needs to improve if we are going to beat the best of the best.
- Cade has to be a threat. Iowa did not even give him an after-thought.
- UM will need to stretch the field. Must force Georgia to defend entire field.
- UM needs to come up with an answer to run stopping blitzes. Iowa came off the edge and it gave UM some issues.
10a. They consistently beat pullers to point of attack.
- On defense UM has to do better job against tight ends.
- Georgia tight ends are better than Iowa’s and Iowa’s hurt us.
- UM has to defend screens better. Been an issue all season.
- Any one else throw something when Henning caught two straight punts inside the 5.
- Most impressive part of the game, UM won the special teams battle.
- One of the big improvements to UM offense, including RBs in passing game.
- Haskins is a monster RB, but UM need to get Corum 100% for championship run. He is a true game breaker.
- Double pass was thing of beauty.
- I expect to see UM run reverse a bit more vs Georgia. Good weapon vs aggressive defense.
- I liked that UM used JJ to throw Hail Mary.
- Cade still holds the ball too long at times. Get rid of it, or tuck it and run.
- I want to add a 4th player to players with bright future, Colson.
- Played his best game yesterday.
- Most improved position group over entire season, corners.
- They have been very good in coverage last 2 weeks.
- Coach Mac made nice adjustment vs boot.
- Impressive part was they did it on the fly. And it takes a correct quick read.
- Other than boot early, UM did nice job setting the edge.
- UM DTs played their best game of the season yesterday.
- I know Iowa does use much hurry up, but sure was nice to not have alignment issues on defense.
- Despite winning 42-3, I did not think UM was as sharp as in the OSU game.
- Have to get that edge back for New Years Eve.
- Same message as last week, don’t just be happy to be there, or intimidated by the game.
- In my best Knute Rockne impression, Win One For The Maizeman! Go Blue!
