Michigan Football Recruiting: 2023 Cole Cabana (MI) Running Back Goes Blue

Michigan got a local recruit who is very quick RB to commit to Michigan today…
Cole Cabana has reportedly ran a 4.3 40 and a 10.62 100 meters timed…crazy fast.
Michigan will likely go after another RB as well and nice to see them hit the local area hard first in this recruiting class. They already have more commits from the state this year than all of last years commits. Michigan is targeting at least 3 more recruits (QB, OL, DL) from the state of Michigan.
CoachBT Comments: This player would of been a national recruit if combine circuit was still in business. You cannot coach his type of speed. He also shows a versatility offensive coordinators love. Can used in the slot or in backfield. Very good candidate to take Corum’s role over after he moves on.
Doc4Blu Comments: Take a look at all of his film, Junior year and camp type stuff. He got caught from behind a few times. Some guys run much faster without pads. He reported from one camp workout two times around 4.45. He reported around 4.37 on the shuttle. If he did run a 4.1 shuttle, that is top shelf, although a list of guys who have ran the fastest shuttle is not impressive.
This guy is a well above average athlete; standing back springs, shuttle times that are at least normal for a four star running back recruit. His 100 meter time is impressive, between fast and blazing. 10.5 is about the break point, 10.4 is blazing.
He reminds me of bobsledder Sam McGuffie and Drew Dileo. McGuffie was killed by his use in the RR offense. This kid can be good if he is put into a speed in space offense that is actually speed in space. He has a great stride, very fluid, one that may yield less leg muscle and tissue injuries.
On the film he is more of a speed and move guy versus power. I am with coach, I think with a good year he will be 4 star and UM will still go after a big banger. My bet is he is not the type that can carry a team between the tackles; I do not think he has the power of Blake Corum, yet. But he has another year to go and a year to get his feet on the ground after that.
Supposedly MSU not that interested. if so, probably because they want bangers. I would use him on special teams, as a second or third back, and primarily as a wing. I still do not think UM does a good job of utilizing a talented wing. Edwards should be lighting teams up: UM finally let him loose a little. He was on his way until his fumble. I would take Cole; too much versatility not not take.
