Impressions: Iowa
1. The Playoff Committee just proved what buffoons they are.
2. Enough on that subject.
3. 13-0 and 3 peat.
4. Does not get any better.
5. Basically, UM beat Iowa at their own game.
6. Superior defense and special teams play won the day.
7. UM really needs this month off to prep and get healthy.
8. As I watched the game for 3rd time it became obvious UM O Line needs a tom of reps.
9. The multiple injuries have taken a toll
10. The timing in the running game was off.
11. Multiple times Corm had to slow down to allow lead blockers to get there.
12. And at times the led blockers arrived early also.
13. This allowed the OLBers to make a ton of plays scraping.
14. It is also obvious to me that JJs injury was worse than reported.
15. He did not show the explosiveness or the cutting ability we are used to.
16. Twice he lost his footing trying to push off the ankle. And multiple times he was sacked because he was slow to get upfield and avoid the rush.
17. JJ also held the ball too long. If he holds it that long against Bama he might not survive.
18 If UM wants to advance they have to clean up the offense’s miscues.
19. Three dropped passes and 3 holding penalties cost UM points.
20. The ultimate high risk ,high reward player, Morgan returning punts.
21.. Biggest issue, catch the D&MN Thing!
22. IMO UM goes for the TD on the 1st drive if Nugent does not get nicked on 3rd down.
23. Tough place to put in a cold snapper.
24. 3 cheers for the defense.
25. They stepped up their game and created turnovers.
26. The best job this season at setting the edge.
27. Those were two very good tackling teams, very few missed tackles.
28 UM’s tackles move laterally as well as any DTs I have seen this season
29. He will miss Mike Sanstril, he is a true football player.
30. Yesterday was IMO the best safety play of the season.
31. Admittedly, Iowa does not have a ton of speed, but still they were good.
32. Major challenge for the defense, stay in their rush lanes and control the Bama QB scrambling.
33. It will be interesting to see if UM, with 4 weeks to prep, shows a few new wrinkles.
34. That’s all for now. Until New Year’s Day, GO BLUE!
