Impressions: Alabama
1. This may not be as in depth, using TiVo was able to basically watch the game twice.
2. 27-20 in OT, Great Victory.
3. Whatever else we say about Team 23, they don’t quit.
4. Very appropriate this game was won on a defense stand.
5. This team has won the on back of the defense all season.
6. Major props to the D Line and Coach Elston.
7. When it mattered the D Line stepped up and made plays.
8. That includes the last two drives by Bama in regulation.
9. Big thing in the W, UM gave up no big plays in the passing game.
10. Only issue I have is why did the defense go conservative in the 2nd half.
11. UM gave Bama fits with blitzes and stunts in the 1st half.
12. I charted it and played base 80% in 2nd half.
13. When UM did struggle against the run it was usually because they failed to set the edge.
14. This was especially true against the cutback and counter .
15. Props to Colson, played with two bum hands and still played a very good game.
16. I think we can all agree JJ struggled a bit in the 2nd half.
17. When it counted on last drive of regulation he made plays.
18. I posted about Henderson struggling, on the last two drives he was very good.
19. I wanted to rip Wilson’s head off after the big penalty.
20. Made some amends with two huge plays when it counted.
21. I have to give a helmet decal to Blake Corum. Talk about a class act and tough kid.
22. I get trying to mix things up on offense.
23. Still think UM tries to get too cute at times.
24. Trying to fake out disciplined defenses like Bama with JR High trick plays is folly.
25. When I 1st looked at Bama’s O Line I was a bit nervous.
26. They made our guys look small.
27. Give our players credit, they went toe to toe with them.
28. And were every bit as physical as Bama.
29. I think that surprised Bama. They really thought they could push UM around.
30. I could make an entire thread on special teams.
31. Let’s just say they need a major upgrade for next week.
