GBMWolverine Message Board Readers: Here is a overview of University of Michigan recent commitment Jack Miller.
Height: 6’4
Weight: 268
Number: 55
Position: Offensive Line
High School: Toledo St. Johns (Ohio)
Head Coach: Doug Pearson
Class: 2011 Michigan Wolverine Recruiting Class (Verbal Commit)
Overview:
Jack Miller, like many talented high school linemen, plays both offensive and defense. He plays defensive end and offensive tackle for Toledo St. Johns. Many college programs recruited Jack to play defensive end, but all indications are that his future at Michigan is as an interior offensive lineman. GBMWolverine believes this is a very good fit. Jack is also an excellent student, reported to be in the 3.5 plus range and is described by those who are in the immediate circle as a great citizen. Taking all of this into consideration, Jack is a good get for Michigan.
Strengths:
Jack moves very well for his size, by no means is he slow or plodding. On film he shows good punch and hip roll. Jack moves his feet quickly and shows the needed athletic ability to pull and lead. Helping the picture is that Jack does a nice job blocking at the second level and is already experienced in zone schemes, qualities that should minimize his learning curve on the line.
Needs Work:
As with many high school linemen, Jack needs to get bigger and stronger, probably by at least 30 pounds of weight and much more than that on the weights. There is a clear need to improve his pass protection and keep improving hip flexibility.
Jack Miller reminds GBMWolverine of this former Michigan Wolverine:
Damon Dennison
Red-shirt or play his freshman year:
Red-shirt like most offensive linemen.
Final Thoughts:
We welcome Jack Miller to Michigan and hope he has a successful career on and off the football field as a student-athlete at the University of Michigan. Go Blue!
